One thing thou lackest.
"Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven :and come, take up the cross, and follow me" (Mark 10:21). The heart of man is corrupt and deceitful above all members of our beings. The young rich man had too much property and wealth, yet he was not about to sell it and give to the poor, not today or ever. He might have worked hard for it or it might have been in the family for years. Regardless, he chose not to surrender his heart to Christ, but instead he walked away from the greatest invitation ever given by God. "And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions" (vs. 22). It is the same today for everyone who desires the wealth of this world. They will not go any further with the Lord because their hearts desire to worship things other than the Lord Jesus Christ. We have to take up our crosses, which is obedience to the Word of God and denying our own wills. However, there will be those who are not tired of the old life of being tied to sin or habits of the world. Victory is at the cross, for all sin and sickness hung there. The cross reflects our sins and wickedness within our hearts. The cross shows us who we really are and what we are not. It brings the Light of Christ to the sinner. It is a place of mercy and grace, for it is the very place that the Blood flowed from Christ's veins, atoning humanity from the law of sin and death. God bless you. Amen
