A Saviour

"For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger" (Luke 2:11, 12 KJV). A Savior unto the world was born in the city of David. He was born in a stable and laid to rest in a manger. Jesus came into this world, not born among the rich or famous, but among the lowest of the world. The Angel of God appeared to the shepherds abiding in the field keeping watch over their flock. At that time shepherds were considered the lowest in society, yet the Angel of the Lord appeared unto them and not to kings. The shepherds tended to the flocks of sheep and the first born males that were chosen for the temple sacrifice. The little city of Bethlehem was the place where the sacrificial lambs were born and raised. The Angel told the shepherds where they would find the Lamb of God, The First Born. "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting" (Micah 5:2 KJV). The Hebrew name for Bethlehem means "The House of Bread," and from that house, Jesus, the Bread of Life, was born and placed in a manger. Christ has come to free and redeem all of Humanity.
