The beginning of wisdom
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever" (Psalms 111:10 NKJV). The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and worship. Where is the fear of God today? If we are not walking under the authority of God, then how do we expect to walk under the authority of man? God has given man His word, which brings forth wisdom, but we have to love God in order for this wisdom to grow within us. King Solomon, the wisest of all kings, found himself loving and serving man instead of God. He was found seeking after only his heart's desires. After an encounter with the Word of God, King Solomon wasn't satisfied. God showed Himself twice to King Solomon in his lifetime, yet he still lost the fear of God. He allowed the world around him to captivate and mislead him. God told him, as He often tells us, to be careful and not to go looking into the world to fulfill the desires of the heart. Solomon disobeyed the Word of God and attached himself to many wives, who worshiped idols. He allowed his wives to have first place in his heart. "But King Solomon loved many foreign women, as well as the daughter of Pharaoh: women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites— from the nations of whom the Lord had said to the children of Israel, 'You shall not intermarry with them, nor they with you. Surely they will turn away your hearts after their gods.' Solomon clung to these in love." (I Kings 11:1, 2 NKJV). So, the house of God turned dark and quiet as the idols were being praised on top of the high places. The fear of God was no longer seen in the kingdom of Solomon, and not only was the fear of God not seen but neither was God. Fear God with all your heart, and lean on Him with all your understanding. God bless you.
