The Spirit against the flesh

"For  the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish." (Galatians 5:17 NKJV).  We, as believers, battle with this one thing called the flesh more than we do the devil. Our flesh is our worst enemy, and it will keep us down and far from our Lord. Many times we come out of a prayer meeting that was moved by the power of the Holy Spirit, just to find ourselves thinking of things we just came against at the altar. The flesh is something only the cross can take care of, and only the cross can deprive the flesh of its power over our lives. We can try to get rid of our flesh, but it will only come under the authority of the Spirit of God. We have to be serious with ourselves, and above all serious with the Lord and place our lives in His hands, because the minute we allow our flesh to arise we give it authority to make our decisions. We have to believe that our old nature was crucified with Christ on the cross, and that it has been made inactive and ineffective for evil. The only way to have victory over this flesh is through the Spirit of God. When the Holy Spirit has rule over our lives, the lusts and appetites of the flesh will go dormant and do what it is and was made to do, that is to be submissive to the Spirit. The flesh will always be a part of us, but it is not to control us.  "I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh." (Galatians 5:16 NKJV). God bless you all.
