By the way side

"And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging" (‭Luke‬ ‭18‬:‭35‬ KJV). This man, who was called Bartamaus, was blind and broke. His place was on the side of the road hearing people, animals, and sometimes the crowds of caravans going by. This was his life, and he knew nothing other than to beg for money to get himself by. This was his familiar place. This place for blind Bartamaus was dark and lonely. He would stretch out his outer garment, sit upon it, and put out his hands in hope to receive money from those who walked by. There are many that are blind today, just as this man was 2,000 years ago. He was physically blind just like many in this world, but there are many who are spiritually blind. They are blinded and bound by what they have done or perhaps who they are. Some are blinded by drugs, alcohol, pornography, money, or self, only to be broke and empty inside. The majority of these people will not arise from this blindness, but they will allow their situation to sustain them. The truth is they don't desire to be set free, for many of them like it where they are and some just don't know any better. Bartamaus was done with this darkness. He had enough of it. When he heard that Jesus of Nazareth was coming along the way, he began to shout for his Savior and cried out to get Christ's attention. I pray more people would recognize that there is a way out from a spiritually blinded life. Jesus is the only one who can bring sight and life to the heart of man. God bless you. Amen
