Deny himself
"And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me" (Luke 9:23 KJV). The word that the Lord Jesus Christ speaks to every believer, not only back then, but also today is to take up our cross daily. God has poured out His grace, His mercy, and His unfailing love. This is not to be taken lightly because His grace demonstrates His power in our weakness, which is something we do not deserve. There are some mega-churches that are preaching the message of God's grace, but they have watered it down and perverted it by man's own heart. This false message is leading many astray and away from victory over the sin nature, also known as the flesh. It does not speak of repentance or turning from sin at all. Some say that everyone is saved by grace and that it is ok to go on living life as they normally do. This is true to an extent. However, where is the relationship with Jesus and the communion with Him? Where are those who deny themselves for the sake of the Lord, His disciples? In these watered down churches one never hears them speak about repentance of sin, Jesus Christ, the cross, and its work of sanctification, much less the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit. Many men are still trying to do what only God can do, that is to save lives. Jesus came to bring us life, and He left us with His Word that brings change to one's heart and soul. However, it comes with one denying themselves to the call of our Lord Jesus Christ. God bless you. Amen
