And they served their idols.
"And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them"(Psalms 106:36 KJV). The Israelites forsook God because they would rather worship an idol. They soon found themselves in trouble. God would speak to them time and time again, and they knew that He was the only God. Yet, in reality, deep in their hearts, so many of them were still stuck on selfishness, pride, and arrogance, which corroded their hearts. They chose to exalt and worship the creation, an image, rather than Christ the Lord, our Creator. It hasn't really changed today. This world has so many idols that pull at the hearts of men. They're everywhere. Everywhere we go and everywhere we look there is some form of an idol. We have so freely allowed them into our society, schools, homes and even into our hearts. These idols pull us away from God. They take the time that we should be giving to the Lord. For example, is watching football a sin? No. However, to sit there every Sunday and neglect the house of God is a sin. We give more time to the television set then we do to our God. The TV becomes an idol many worship. In addition, so many youth, along with young men and women, are drawn to video games. They will spend hours in front of a video game. This too becomes an idol. It becomes a form of worship and draws the heart away from the Lord. There's really no difference from the time the Israelites walked through the wilderness for 40 years till today. We still have men, women, and young people hooked and addicted to idols, and they are addicted with their whole hearts. Help us pray for this generation, for the harvest. God bless you.
