Be Sober, Be Vigilant

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8 KJV): In today's society, in the world that we live in, there is so much the flesh may want to partake in. Its' desires can be stirred up very easily, possibly even just by watching a TV program or a commercial. As Christians in the faith, we must be careful with what we allow our eyes to see and our ears to hear. We have an adversary, the devil, and he would surely love to trap one of God's children once again. He would also love to bombard us with thoughts of ungodliness, to mess with our feelings, and to just get the best of us. He's out there with a mission, and you and I are on his hit list. God gives us the answer to overcome and have victory because He loves us so much; First, we must be sober, which means to be free from the influence of intoxicants. We must have self control and be sober-minded over the temptations the devil puts out there and also the temptations and thoughts in our own mind. Second, we must be vigilant, which is to be cautious at all times and to be at a constant watch. With daily communion in the Word of God, the enemy of our soul, the devil of this earth, does not have a chance to trap us. So be subject to God. "Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you" (James 4:7 AMP). Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, and give no time to the enemy of this world or the enemy of the mind, and watch him flee from you. God bless you. Amen.
