For we cannot but speak.

"For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard" (Acts 4:20 KJV). Peter and John knew the power of the Lord and the miracles that Jesus did when He was upon this earth. They were about to see plenty more miracles in their life time, for they were filled with the Holy Spirit. As they walked to the temple at the hour of prayer, the Lord did a miracle. A man who was lame for 40 years caught their attention by begging for money, but the men of God spoke the name of Jesus, reached out for his hand, and he was healed and strengthened. He stood up walking and came into the temple praising God. When all the people saw, they began to praise the Lord. However, the priests and the Sadducees became grieved because these men stood under the power of the Holy Spirit proclaiming and preaching the name of Jesus, whom they crucified. The name of Jesus is an offense to the non-believer. They can't understand such great love. The first church was filled with the Holy Spirit, the presence of God. There was nothing that could stop this church from growing, not even the threats of man. The world today is looking for miracles, but miracles only happen to those who know and seek the Lord. Just as the apostles knew the Lord, we too must know Him in order to see God do the supernatural. The apostles had been with Jesus, and if we have been with Him also, anything can happen. God bless you. Amen
