Into prison
"And when they had inflicted many blows upon them, they threw them into prison, ordering the jailer to keep them safely. Having received this order, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks" (Acts 16:23, 24 ESV). Paul and Silas did not let their circumstances get in the way of praying to the Lord. They were beaten by the crowd of people, who also whipped them with rods. Then they were taken to the bottom of the prison into the dungeon, where they were shackled to the floor with other prisoners. All this happened because they preached the Word of the Lord, came against darkness, and cast out an evil spirit that had a girl possessed. These were loyal men to the Gospel of Christ. These were men that would not let anything interfere with their walk with Jesus. The enemy will always try to discourage us and oppress us with issues that surround us. He will try to make these issues look bigger to the natural eye than they really are. Nothing is impossible or too big for those who stand in faithfulness, looking toward the Lord Jesus Christ. I could imagine Paul and Silas being in a dungeon filled with darkness, as the odor of death and sewage filled the air. Yet, that did nothing to stop them from praising the Lord and exalting Him. Don't let the enemy stop you from praying and praising the Lord. Hit the devil right where it hurts the most by getting on your knees and giving God the glory. God bless you. Amen
