Friendship with the world.
"Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God" (James 4:4 NKJV). Separation from the world comes from the heart of an individual. In order to be separated from the things of this world, we must have a deep hunger and a want. The worldly things only bring hurt, pain, and suffering. Separation is when the individual strives to keep themselves pure and holy, allowing the Holy Spirit to sanctify and consecrate their lives. If one desires Christ Jesus and wants freedom or a deeper walk with the Lord, they will discipline themselves to be separated from the things of this world. It is the things of this world and the love of them, that will keep a person, the believer, from serving Christ faithfully. There are many things of this world that take the place of our faith in Jesus Christ. The things of this world will only keep us lingering, from stepping out faithfully, and from living our lives true to our Lord. Friends of the world are enemies of God, for they look to something else other than Christ as the object of their faith. The more the believer is drawn into the world, the harder it is for them to come back to Jesus Christ, but it is not impossible. Begin to check out your personal life, and look to see if there is anything that draws you away from the Lord Jesus Christ. God bless you. Amen
