Search and try our ways

"Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord. Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens" (Lamentations 3:40, 41 KJV). Sometimes it's hard to understand what the Lord does in our lives. I believe He does certain things to help us grow in the faith, to where we will trust and rely on Him one-hundred percent. The children of Israel went through the wilderness with needs. Those needs could only be fulfilled two ways. First, they could call upon the Lord and trust in Him, or second they could rely on their own flesh and chase after the things that their flesh desired. Many begin the journey out of Egypt willing to follow a promise in order to find freedom. When the tests and trials come from the Lord, it seems as though we begin to worry and faint along the journey. The Lord is trying to get us to look up and call upon Him all the time. He's brought us out of darkness, chains, and bondage. The fight for our salvation does not end there. Yes, we do walk in freedom and liberty, but in reality the battle has just begun. There's going to be more temptation and deeper valleys than ever before because we are children of God and Christ wants us to rely totally on Him. Turn again to the Lord. The purpose of the affliction that is allowed by the Lord is to show us that we have been turning to something other than the Lord when trials come. Maybe we walked onto another path led by self-will, causing one to go astray from the Bible, the Truth. The Word of God says, "Let us search and try our ways" (vs 40). Let's make sure that we are on the Lord's path, and allow the Lord to bring correction. We must search our ways. God bless you. Amen
