Faith, Hope, and Love

"So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love" (1 Corinthians 13:13 ESV). God calls us all to serve Him in faithfulness and obedience, but in all reality we must know who we are serving if we are to be faithful. God, the maker of Heaven and Earth, is not just someone we run to in a time of need or in trial, but He is always there and ready to reach down and help at any time. He is always there through the good and the bad. The only way one will serve God or anyone else is if that one falls in love with the one whom they desire to serve. Love trusts and desires to be with that individual. However, how can we love Him when we don't even know him? How can we fall deeply in love with our Lord if we do not spend time with Him or have a desire to follow Him? When one falls in love with someone, it just does not happen in moments or when they make eye contact. The relationship begins to grow when they spend time with one another, putting aside their own selfish desires to see the other fulfilled and taken care of. Love trusts and relies on one another. It holds on to one another when the storms arise. Love is humble. It does not seek after one's selfish wants and desires, but looks after others. It is selfless and sees past sin. Our greatest example of love is our Lord Jesus Christ, who put aside His own desires to see ours met. He is the greatest example. Why not follow, cling to, and rely on the greatest example of love, our Lord Jesus. It is up to us to serve and follow Him, and the only way is through love. God bless you. Amen
