The spirit that quickeneth

"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life" (John 6:63 KJV). Nothing can profit a man or a woman in the flesh, no not at all. Even our relationship with Christ Jesus must be through the Spirit. This relationship with the Lord may have begun with one running to the Lord in need and in sin. He or she ran to Him in the flesh under the control of the sin nature, but over time Christ poured out His Spirit upon that believer in order to begin a true relationship, a real intimacy, with them. Jesus spoke to all who were following Him saying, "He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him" (vs. 56). The majority of the people could not hear this truth because they could not understand it. They were unwilling to accept the bloody death of their Messiah, or to entrust themselves to the Divine Personality, whose most distinctive act would be the sacrifice of Himself on the cross. This Message has offended many. In fact, the cross is an offense to the entire world, and regrettably even most of the church. Jesus looked over to his disciples, the Twelve, and asked them, "Will you also go away?" The Lord knows those who walk with Him and those who believe in Him, and He also knows those who don't. Jesus is the Truth, and He has made a way for all of us to be free. It's time we truly walk with Him and abide in Him, and He will abide in us. God bless you. Amen
